    Position Description

    BASIC PURPOSE

    Manages internal/external hotel(s) and/or marketing, advertising, promotion and public relations projects. Work to support the DOSM on all related marketing aspects for Chateau on the Lake Resort Spa & Convention Center, to include but not limited to: Resort, Group Planners, Transient Guests, food and beverage, Spa Chateau and Chateau Marina. Position will involve dealing with outside agencies and contracted vendors/service providers. Practices overall project management and monitors the cost and status of all related, and approved sales and marketing expense items. Marketing Manager will also lead the social media efforts in conjunction with the DOSM for The Chateau on the Lake Resort Spa & Convention Center. Responsible for ensuring all on-line marketing is up-to-date and on brand. 

    ORGANIZATIONAL SCOPE: 

    Position is responsible for the planning and implementation of comprehensive marketing programs. Requires extensive interaction and coordination with hotel(s) DOSM, General Manger, Department Heads, Sales Staff Members and corporate personnel. 

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    With direction of DOSM and Brand Team, plan and execute advertising and promotion campaigns in support of established Resort’s strategic sales and marketing plans. This position will also create in-house materials as needed for small events outside of an agency's involvement. Manages the relationship between the hotel(s) and internal/external marketing resources/vendors. Meets regularly with department heads, proactively providing marketing and strategic plans to the property. Ensure all campaigns follow brand advertising standards and guidelines. Manages the coordination of Brand Marketing Programs. 

    Database Management/Marketing

    Develop new and update existing mailing lists for marketing needs 

    Analyze and review current/proposed data entry, storage and maintenance methods 

    Assist in the development and implementation of internal/external electronic communication 

    Response Tracking for executed initiatives 

    Manages and maintains the following: 

    Collateral programs 

    Electronic Marketing Efforts – Digital Marketing

    • Ability to set up and optimize Google Adwords and Bing campaigns, GDN and Facebook ads
    • Plan and execute all SEO (Search Engine Optimization) campaigns
    • Create, write and manage weekly blog content for SEO campaigns
    • Measure and report performance of all digital and paid social campaigns, and assess against goals (ROI and KPIs)
    • Identify trends and insights, and optimize spend and performance based on the insights
    • Brainstorm new and creative growth strategies
    • Plan, execute, and measure experiments and conversion tests
    • Collaborate with internal teams to create landing pages and optimize user experience
    • Utilize strong analytical ability to evaluate end-to-end customer experience across multiple channels and customer touch points
    • Collaborate with and manage agencies and other vendor partners
    • Evaluate emerging technologies. Provide thought leadership and perspective for adoption where appropriate

    Project Management (potential of additional properties)

    Sales Promotion Campaigns (Blitz, Tele Focus, etc.) 

    Internal/External Communication on projects and initiatives 

    Web Sites - Comprehensive on-line marketing 

    Logos, photography digital library and monthly newsletters 

    Development of promotional concepts as needed to fill low levels of occupancy, food and beverage sales and expand awareness of on-site recreational activities 

    Develop merchandising programs 

    Update and oversight of Internet sites including special promotions, accurate loading of hotel information, competitive analysis, trends and recommendations 

    Leads the Social Media efforts to include: Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and Pinterest 

    Oversee 3rd Party Vendors and other vendor projects and work orders. 

    Budget/Expense Management  

    SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS: 

    In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the supervisor based upon the requirements of the company. 

    • Participate where appropriate in related trade civic/business related functions and a representative of the promotion of the property or properties and/or the city/region.
    • Provide analysis necessary to support the development of the annual business plan and ongoing measurement.
    • Attend weekly, monthly and periodic sales, revenue management and marketing meetings as necessary.
    • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned and participate in task forces and committees as requested.


    Knowledge and Skills: 

    Education: High School Diploma required. Four-year college degree or equivalent education/experience with course work in marketing preferred. 

    Experience: Five-years combined sales, marketing, data management and supervisory experience. Prior hotel/travel industry experience preferred 

    Skills and Abilities: 
    Extensive knowledge of marketing communication mediums to include, but not limited to print advertising, internet marketing, public relations

    • Ability to develop and manage database information for marketing and sales communication
    • Ability to manage extensive amounts of information
    • Excellent written skills sufficient to produce internal/external sales and marketing communication
    • Excellent spoken and presentation skills
    • Ability to manage and maintain a promotional calendar
    • Outstanding proofing skills
    • Ability to work effectively both independently and as a team
    • Ability to manage manpower and organize complex projects and establishes priorities
    • Ability to effectively deal with department heads, executive committee members, team members and corporate staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy
    • Ability to manage multiple projects, meet and work effectively under time and resource constraints
    • Excellent ability to run social media platforms and stay current all on trends pertaining to this medium
    • Ability to create great designs on brand in software programs such as Photoshop, In-Design, Key Note, etc.

    Travel required: Some local travel 

    • Evenings, weekends and additional hours as required
    • Ability to attend external events and conduct presentations
