    Position Description

    Job Purpose:  

    Maintains a clean and tidy lobby and ensures consistently-delivered extraordinary customer service to guests, especially as service affects the transferring and storing of luggage. Direct and assist bell staff engaged in duties, such as paging, running errands, running shuttle service and giving information. Provide prompt and efficient service and to promote a positive image of the hotel and company. Stay informed on current events and entertainment around the city.

    Job Responsibilities: 

    • Meet and welcome guest in a friendly and warm manner and assist in transporting luggage to and from guest rooms.
    • Direct bell persons to escort guests to rooms or perform related services.  Instruct workers in procedures regarding requests from guests, utilizing knowledge of hotel facilities and local merchants and attractions as well as room services.
    • Follow the 15/5 rule: acknowledge guests at 15 ft. and greet the guest at 5 ft.
    • Direct the work product of all bell staff employees ensuring a quality product is delivered to our guests in a timely manner and ensure proper handling and storage of all guest luggage and packages.
    • Supervise courtesy van operations in accordance with hotel and company policy.  Ensure the professional appearance of all hotel courtesy vans. Keep entrance to hotel clear and controls parking.
    • Assist guests in various manners, such as furnishes information, makes reservations, and obtain tickets for guests to social and recreational events or for travel. Pick up and bundle guests’ laundry for outside cleaning service and delivery.
    • Inspect associates for compliance of dress and uniform code. Monitor attendance and promptness to schedule in accordance with company policy.
    • Communicate with supervisors, peers, or subordinates providing daily information to ensure successful operation and execution of guest needs or upcoming events.
    • Ensure that front doors are accessible and not blocked at all times.  Know and enforce all hotel and company safety and emergency procedures.  May report suspicious behavior of patrons to hotel security personnel.
    • Attend and participate in all monthly front desk meetings.
    • Ensure the flag is raised, lowered and handled properly.
    • Follow all company and safety and security JSA’s, policies and procedures; report accidents, injuries and unsafe work conditions to management; complete safety training and certifications. Maintain confidentiality of proprietary information and protect company assets.
    • Others duties as assigned.

    Job Skills:

    • Ability to carry out specific oral or written instructions, frequently following a simple routine.
    • Knowledge of local landmarks, and major routes around city.
    • Oral Comprehension — The ability to listen to and understand information and ideas presented.
    • Critical Thinking — Use logic and reason to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
    • Active Listening — Give full attention to what other people are saying, take time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

    Job Qualifications:   

    Education    

    • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

    Experience    

    • Minimum six (6) months bell person or concierge experience in the hospitality industry and six (6) months supervisory experience or on the job training.

    Licenses/Certifications       

    • Valid driver license, with a safe and clean background.
